Last Saturday Isobel attended her first 'real' wedding. I say 'real' as we did watch the Royal Wedding - little did we know she had taken so much of it in. It was time to plant out the courgettes,  runner and french beans (my broad bean seeds have turned to mould so starting again....). Have knitted these socks for wearing in wellies/gum boots as her feet can get so cold. Just finished this cardigan for Isobel - in the nick time too as I don't think she is going to get too many months wear out of it. Granny knitted a her Little Dotty soon after she was born and I liked the effect the purl one, knit 5 has - so simple but so effective. We booked a few days away in Spain to stay with Richard's parents and despite worrying whether we would get away with the snow and then the Spanish air strikes we arrived and the temperatures stayed in the 20s.  It was bliss to leave the coats and boots behind. How does one measure loss particularly when it comes at you like a shooting dart screaming out of the sky? We spent last week at home - Richard on a cruise and my Dad and Rachel came to visit and entertained Miss I.  Thursday we went to Greenwich, but other than that kept it all very local. We had a long weekend in Somerset staying with Granny  - and visiting great Granny (where Isobel was on her best behaviour!). A few weeks ago I finished my first shawl. Definitely something I couldn't do watching TV and talking at the same time so took a little longer than I expected. I do love knitting with 100% alpaca and relatively pleased with the end result. Would have been nicer if it was a little wider, but something to take on board for next time.

Just made this sweet little hat for Isobel - using the Sublime range of wool and patterns. If making it again, I would ignore the slip stitch border as I don't feel it looks that great (or I've made a mistake!). Our cat, Yannick, is back at the vets again. We were planning on taking him anyway due to worries over weight loss and a lump. Yesterday was the annual Upland Road Street Party. The top half of the road was closed to cars which meant the children could run around - in and out of people's houses - and 'events' took place in people's driveways. It took about a week - off an on, but we now have a freshly painted sitting room which makes the room look very different. The skirting boards now fixed in place so Isobel can no longer detach and wheel them around the room. Most of the shelving wood was recycled from the endless built in cupboards upstairs, the fire surround was being thrown by a neighbour - so quite a 'green' renovation.

Having started this last Summer when Isobel was a feisty bump I put it aside thinking it looked huge. Well several milestones have been reached in the last week. Isobel is Nine months - how did that happen - where did the time go? It has seemed weeks if not months away, but my return date to work is drawing near and in fact I am now buying time with holiday as 20th July seemed too early to go back. Having found some old aran wool stashed in one of the baskets under the bed, I decided to make Isobel a cable and moss stitch hat (Debbie Bliss- Cashmerino Book 2).
