During Miss Isobel's morning nap, Richard and I were looking at out drab concrete front garden/drive way today and both agreed (yet again) the pillars are an absolute eye-sore - and amazingly neither of us have driven the car into it. Two of the pillars are holding up the ancient fences, but the middle one had to go.
So with a few whacks with the sledge hammer, the concrete had gone.
The reinforced steel post was bent out of place and hurrah - it had gone. Hoping the post and dilapidated gate will be collected by one of those guys in a van on the hunt for scrap metal. Placed our bench out the front and hoping it won't get nicked.
