Birthday Boy

My baby boy turned one this weekend. Such a milestone and where has the time gone? Now quite a personality, trying to assert his independence, desperately keen to walk and run after his sister. The birthday opening of presents went down well - no tears as with Isobel, but as on her first birthday we did get the 2.5 hour daytime sleep! Unheard of....ever!

Birthday morning

Having a ball with his new truck from Nain and Taid

Granny came to stay which was very exciting for them both:

and that afternoon we had a tea party (Isobel's friends of course). Granny helped with getting the food - with a trip down memory lane making fairy bread - Mmmmmmm

Obligatory cupackes.

First Birthday Cake
And first birthday cake consumed.....

It was a lovely day and the party celebrations went on for most of the weekend. Isobel went to two parties the following day and has one nearly every weekend this month! I can't keep up!

Party Girl (exhausted Mummy...)
And on reaching one, Elis has decided he too should sit up at the table and draw!

Six Months

At the beginning of this month, Elis turned six months. It feels quite a milestone (and I wonder if sleeping for a full night might appear soonish....). I am not so aware of what he should be doing according to the books as I had been for Isobel, more going with the flow and letting him find his own way. He loves sitting up now and being part of the action - especially laughing at Isobel's antics. I can see her being very much in charge, bossy (and I slight wince at the idea of history repeating itself), but she does adore him.

A third of my maternity leave left - I wish I could stop the time whizzing by.

A taster....

After what seems an age (probably 10 days or so) of more frequent wakings, more demand feeds, I decided it was time to try Elis on solids or to be more exact, mush. Looking back it is exactly same stage to the date as with Isobel. She was up for Baby Led Weaning (BLW) - but for the time being he prefers to be spoon fed! He has taken to it so far like a fish to water and I am hoping the end result will be more sleep for us all!

Here is he (looking shattered), but ready and waiting...

Delicious.....even when I am feeling this tired...

Hey Jude

It has taken eons, but finally last week I finished the jumper for Elis - 'Hey Jude' by Amanda Kretchun which I sourced from Ravelry. I cast on (Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino - predictable!) before his arrival, but during the following weeks, in a bleary eyed state, only manage to do the odd row in the early weeks of his life with a number of errors - no time though to re-do. It just fits (blocked the life out of it) and despite the immensely frustrating sloow going it was a useful learning curve. Adjusting the 18th month old pattern to fit a 3/4 month old, and knitting a raglan sweater top down was a new one on me. But wow - not having to make up at the end was FANTASTIC - so I am all for more of these patterns.

Happy Chappy

Quite a happy little man (with the exception of wind and teething  - which has started already!):

Welcome Little Elis

Little Elis Carwyn Edward Evans arrived on Wednesday, 5th October at 1.18am! He made signs he was on his way on his due date so maybe he is going to be a punctual person. The labour apparently mirrored that of Isobel, but luckily this one did not end up in a c-section which was a huge relief.

Isobel has been lovely to her little brother. It took us several days to agree on the name so she is still calling him 'baby' and 'little brother'. She is very excited he will be picking her up from nursery tomorrow.

He seems quite content - here is a snap from this morning:
