Milestone

Last Friday Isobel turned one! Instead of having her early morning bottle upstairs we took her down to the sitting room where Richard had hung bunting, happy birthday banner and balloons the night before. The bunting caught her initial attention and then we went onto presents. She got the knack of helping to rip parcels open (and has a love of bubble wrap - who doesn't!) Since that morning she has been dying to go downstairs to play so some toys have migrated to her bedroom.

Luckily for me the early morning was just so exciting she gave me a 2.5 hour break/sleep (!) so I could prepare for the tea party that afternoon. Two candles as it was also one of her friend's birthday too!

We had a lovely time with all her friends and the cupcakes and scones rapidly disappeared (as did the grown up bubbles).

Pretty exhausting day - and quite momentous to remember the birth and goings on a year ago. I will never forget Isobel's face as she was lifted above the c-section screen - often felt that moment would never arrive during the 33 hour labour! What a tremendous year it has been - here's to the next and I am sure another learning curve - but hopefully not so steep!
